Rancho Mission Viejo
Past, Present and Future

The O’Neill/Avery/Moiso family ranch once encompassed three large ranches which included the great Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores in north San Diego County (today’s Camp Pendleton and San Onofre State Beach) and its adjoining Rancho Trabuco and Rancho Mission Viejo in south Orange County. Collectively spanning more than 200,000 acres, the Ranch stretched from Aliso Creek, near El Toro Road, south to Oceanside.

Over the past decades, several cities, communities, regional parks, and forever-protected open spaces have been created on the family’s historic ranchlands. Today, the remaining 23,000 acres form Rancho Mission Viejo, the last working ranch in Orange County, as well as home to a new ranch community and The Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo.
